Willard Barker (1922-2007)

Willard Barker, 85, of Church Ridge Road, Olive Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Oct. 13, 2007, at his residence.

Willard was born May 8, 1922, in Boyd County, and was a son of the late Albert and Amanda Mosier Barker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Georgia Tackett Barker; a son, Gary Barker; and a brother, Earl Barker.

He was a retired employee of Kentucky Electric Steel. Willard has been a Christian for more than 53 years and was a member of Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Caroll and Virgie Barker of Olive Hill; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Gary Littleton, Cathy Barker and Priscilla and William Caplinger, all of Olive Hill, and Bonnie and Tony Butler of Emerson; nine grandchildren, Rhonda Littleton Roe, Jimmy Barker, Jessia Barker, Lora Littleton, Michael Barker, Josh Caplinger, Allen Wilson, Stacey Duncan and Laura Beth Wilson; eight great-grandchildren, Austin Barker, Caleb Barker, Payton Barker, Ethan Barker, Jasmine Barker, Kaitlyn Wilson, Kaden Wilson and Alexis Duncan; two brothers, Albert Barker Jr. and Raymond Huntsman, both of Olive Hill; two sisters, Avenell Smith and Minnie Lawhorn, both of Olive Hill; and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grahn Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Brother George Whitt, Brother Jimmy Barker and Brother Clifford Earl Tackett officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Monday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be his brothers in the Lord.
