State route 693 park car on left side of road. The old Whitt cabin seems to have been located about 200 feet west of the road on the south bank of Meadow Creek. It was moved in 1931 to the
Radford College campus for use as a museum and moved again in 1953 to become a private dwelling near New River's Claytor Dam."

| Whitt, William B., merchant and wholesaler. Born 17 Sep 1867 at Whitt, son of Jack and Missouri Cox Whitt. Educated in local schools, at 17 took charge of
| father's general store. In 1895 located in Ashland, forming partnership with James H. Kitchen, incorporated in 1898 as Kitchen, Whitt & Co. In 1887 married
| Bertola Jarvis, who died in 1906; they reared five children. In 1907 wed Bessie J. Sexton and had six children. State senator, 1907-07; Ashland school board,
| and mayor of Ashland, serving until his death 19 Dec 1926. Democrat, Methodist (South), Mason.
