Robert Marshall Pension
 

On February 24 of the said year Robert Marshall appeared in the county court. Being a resident of the aforesaid county and state and being at the age of 71 years on the 11th of March next. He stated that he had enlisted in the Army of the United States of America in the year 1777 with Captain Hyns. And that he stated that he had served in the 6th Regiment of the Maryland troops. He stated that he has lost his discharge and he also stated that he had served in the Battle of Brandwine and in the Battle of Germantown and at the Battle of Monmouth, in which he was in the rear guard. He also stated that he had served in the regular Army under the command of General C Wain. The said pensioner stated and swore he had enlisted in Carlisle in the state of Pennsylvania to serve in the company under the command of Captain Seringer, and he stated that he had then marched to Fort Pitt. He stated and swore that he had been regularly and honorably discharged.

The said county do hereby declare it to be their opinion that the above named applicant was a Revolutionary soldier.

Sir: Include in the application of Mrs. Nancy Marshall, widow of Robert Marshall, deceased, a Revolutionary pensioner, asking to be included on the pension list. Include the certificate.

I hereby certify that it appears by the Muster Rolls remaining in this office that Robert Marshall enlisted as a private in the company under the command of Captain Aynie of the 6th Maryland Regiment for the term of 3 years on the 5th of March 1777, and he was honorably discharged and paid on the 5th of March 1780.

Mrs. Nancy Marshall personally appeared before me in open court on March 18, 1850. She stated and swore that she was a resident of Kenton County in the state of Kentucky, and that she was at the age of 69 years. Being duly sworn she made the following declaration: Stated and swore that she is the widow of Robert Marshall, deceased, who was a private in the United States Army. She also stated that he, Robert Marshall lived in the state of Maryland at the time her husband enlisted and he than came t the state of Kentucky and settled in Campbell County. And she also stated and swore that he made his declaration in the said county of Campbell in the state of Kentucky. The said widow also stated that after his death which occurred July 1, 1837, his certificate of pension was passed into the hands of Samuel Baker, and she said that she has never seen the pension certificate since that time. She said that she was married to the said Robert Marshall October 24, 1797 and this fact was proven by the certificate of Rev. Bethenel Rigs. She stated that she was not married prior to his leaving for the service. Sworn to and subscribed this 18th day of March 1850 before the Kenton County Court.

Napoleon B Stevens, Clerk of the County Courts certifies the foregoing declaration of Nancy Marshall and the aforesaid affidavit was at the appointed time in open court.

Iquise Marshall and Hayden Petty of Kenton County were personally acquainted with Robert Marshall and Nancy Marshall and they also stated that they lived as husband and wife.
