John Schmidt

John Schmidt, known in Covington by the nickname "Professor Schmidt" was born on December 25, 1810 in Obergensberg, Bavaria. In the autumn of 1853 he sailed from Rotterdam and came to America. he first settled in Cincinnati and later moved to Covington where he operated a dry goods store. He died November 13, 1884. The members of the German Pioneer Club attended the funeral.
