Jefferson Davis Carmack, aged 69 years, died at his home near Bethel, this county (Pendleton) on Thursday, Jan 23, 1941.  He had been a sufferer from kidney trouble for the past three years but his death was hastened when he contracted flu about ten days ago previous to his passing.

Mr. Carmack was a former resident of Dayton KY and was a retired stationary engineer.  He was the son of the late George and and Fannie Carmack, and was born in Campbell County 4 March 1871. He had been a resident of this county for the past several years and operated a store and gas station near Bethel.  He had been married twice.  He is survived by his second wife, formerly Miss Lulu B Clark and a foster son, Horace Huntley of Fort Thomas.  He was a member of the Persimmon Grove Baptist Church and united with that congregation at the age of 15 years under the ministry of Rev Jolly.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon Jan 25 at the funeral home of Thomas & Fossett in Falmouth, conducted by the Rev C Q Jones, pastor of the Falmouth Baptist Church.  Burial took place in the Evergreen Cemetery near Southgate.
