On February 22, 1830 in Campbell County, Kentucky, the said pensioner at the age of 75 years, appeared in open court and upon oath stated and swore that he had enlisted to serve for a period of 3 years in the month of February 1777 from King George County, in the state of Virginia. He stated he was recruited by Robert Lovel, but that he was later transferred to the company under the command of Captain John Hudson. And then to the regiment under the command of Colonel William Brent to serve in the line of the state of Virginia and he further stated that he was honorably discharged in the year 1780 at Fredericksburg. He then immediately re-enlisted in the same place to serve for a tour of 18 months duration in the regiment under the command Colonel Christian Freebiger, and in the brigade under the command of General Wayne. He stated that he had been honorably discharged at Old Cumberland Court House in the state of Virginia. He also stated that he had resided with his son, John White, and needed assistance.
On February 25, 1830 in Campbell County, Kentucky the affidavit of Rebecca Spilman was also given. The said deponent stated and swore that the said James White had enlisted in either the year 1776 or 1777 in the county of King George, in the state of Virginia. The deponent stated and swore that the said applicant had been a messmate of her brother, William Spilman in the War of the Revolution against the King of Great Britain.
The said pensioner, James White was finally placed on the
Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $8 per month to commence on March 10,
1830 and his certificate of pension for the above mentioned amount was issued on
March 12, 1830. It was then sent to Colonel R M Johnson at the House of
Representatives in Washington City in the District of Columbia.
