Jacob and Avice White

Jacob White was born 5
May 1787 1n Orange County, Virginia, the son of Jacob White and Sarah Stevens.
His mother was the daughter of John and Elizabeth Stevens. As a young man he
came to Alexandria with his parents, where he bought land, built a lovely
brick home, married and raised a large family. He married Avice Shaw,
daughter of James and Ann Shaw, 25 Apr 1818 in Alexandria. Avice Shaw was born
22 Mar 1799 and died 22 Apr 1889 in Alexandria. Jacob died 17 Aug 1848 in Alexandria
and both he and Avice were buried in the
Stephens Farm Cemetery. No evidence yet
has shown the relationship between Jacob and Conyers White, but since they
both came from Orange County, Virginia and both came to Alexandria, one would
suspect they are related.
