The old 11th Street Bridge built in 1892 and
replaced with the Shortway Bridge in 1914 was closed April 1, 2001. It was
imploded August 23, 2003.

The bridge connected 11st street in Newport with 12th street in Covington. A new four lane concrete structure was built and opened in 2004. It was named the Licking Valley Girl Scout Bridge in 2002 after a lengthy debate about the name.
