Edwin and Elizabeth Morin

1745-1841

Complied by Elizabeth Morrow Cooley and help in collection by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Family History Center in Norwood, Ohio and reprinted here with the permission of the director, Alma Ryan. It is intended for the use of research and is not to be sold.

Edwin (often see on records as Edward) Morin was born in Culpepper, Virginia on 7 July 1745 and died 16 Sep 1841 in the section directly south of Alexandria known as Flag Spring where he and his wife lie buried in the Flagg Spring Cemetery of the Old Flagg Spring Baptist Church.  His wife, Elisabeth came with him from Virginia. She died in the 82nd year of her life, but the correct date is not known as the stone is quite corroded obliterating the dates.

Edwin’s father came to this country from Scotland, settling in Virginia where he took up farming. Edward fought in the Revolutionary War from the State of Virginia. Later, after coming to Kentucky and settling near Alexandria, about 1790 via Limestone (Maysville), he became a farmer. He was quite active in the early affairs of the region.
