At a Court held for Campbell County on Monday the 2nd day of May 1796 at the House of Jacob Fowler in the Town of Newport.

A Deed from the Trustees of Falmouth to William Sanders was produced in Court certified according to Law and Ordered to be recorded.

Page 42-A Deed from the Trustees of Falmouth to William Sanders was produced in Court certified according to law and ordered to be recorded.

A Deed from the Said Trustees to James Grant was produced in Court certified according to Law and ordered to be recorded.

A Deed from James Moody and Samuel McMillan to Michael Forrest with Certificates of its being recorded in the Clerks office of Fayette County was produced in Court & ordered to be recorded.

A copy of the last Will and Testament of Peter Benham deceased with Certificate of the probate of the original & the genuineness of the Copy under the hand of the Judge of Probate of the County of Washington State of Pennsylvania with the Seal of the said County affixed thereto was produced in Court by Robert Benham Executor therein named whereupon on Motion of said Robert it is ordered that the same be recorded & Certificate thereof was granted to the said Executor he having given Bond with Nathan Kelly his Security in the penalty of four hundred pounds conditioned as the Law directs.

Ordered that Washington Berry, Dailey Shawhan,  Stephen Lyon,  John Spencer or any three of them being first sworn (before a Justice of this County) do appraise in Current Money the Slaves (if any) and personal Estate of the said Peter Benham deceased and return the appraisement to the next Court.

Page 43-A Deed indented from Robert Benham and Elizabeth his wife of the one part and Stephen Lyons of the other part was acknowledged by the Said Robert and ordered to be Recorded - likewise that a Commission be awarded to take the privy examination of Elizabeth Wife of the Said Robert.

The Persons appointed to lay off the Road from Tanners Station to Newport made their Report in substance as follows that they have view'd and mark'd out a Road beginning at Tariners Station to the hill nearly an East Course and over the Ridge to Taylor Creek & up said Creek to a dividing ridge & along the ridge about two Miles thence on to fork (?) of Woolper thence nearly an East Course then crossing Dry Run thence to Pickels Road & from thence to Newport - on consideration whereof it is Ordered that the Said Road be established according to the Report that the Male labouring Titheables below the Waters of Garrison Run including the Waters of Woolper and Woolper Bottom do attend Daniel Mosly/Mosby who is appointed Overseer thereof where requisite to assist in cutting out & Keeping the same in good repair as a Waggon Road further Ordered that Robert McCoy appointed overseer of the remainder of the Road have the same power as the said Mosely/Moseby for the purpose aforesaid.

The Report being made & returned on John Grants Mill is allowed & ordered to be recorded which report is as follows:

The Jury legally impanell'd & qualified are of opinion that the 2 Acres of Land for the Mill & abuttments is worth 2 of the acre & the Land that will be overflown by the Dam the property of John Boyd is worth 2 of the acre that the health of the neighbourhood will not be injured & that the passage of fish & the navigation of the Creek cannot be injured and that no Mansion House or Improvements (except as aforesaid will be damaged thereby Ordered that Samuel Bryant,  Isaac Wise,  James McMurty and William Dehart or any three of them being first Sworn before a Justice for this purpose act as Viewers to mark out, the nearest & best way from John Sanders's ferry on the South fork of Licking to intersect the Grassy Creek Road near the head of Harris's Creek and make Report of the conveniences and inconveniences of the said intended Road to the next Court.

Ordered that John Vantz, Elijah McClanahan, John Cook, Michael Coger (Coser) and Richard Sharp or any three of them being first duly sworn act as Viewers to mark out the nearest and best way from Falmouth to intersect the Road about to be laid off from Harrison Court House to the County line and make report of the conveniences and inconveniences of the said intended Road to the next Court.

Ordered that Thomas Lancaster, Arther Bains, Alhy Kendal & John Waller or any three of them being first duly sworn mark out the nearest and best way from Falmouth to the Broad Ford & make Report thereof to the next Court.

Page 45-On the Motion of George Hume who made Oath according to Law and together with John Sanders his Security entered into and acknowledged the Bond in the penalty of Fifty pound conditioned as the law directs Certificate is granted to him for obtaining letters of Administration on the Estate of Joel Hume deceased in due form.

Ordered that John Ewing Alexander McClain William Hume and William Arnold or any three of them being first Sworn before a Justice of this County do appraise in current Money the Slaves if any and personal Estate of the Said Joel Hume dec'd and return the appraisement to the next Court.

Ordered that Thomas Lindsays Mark of his Hogs viz: a Hole in each ear be recorded.

Ordered it appearing on the Motion of Thomas Johnson that he is improperly charged with a Stud Horse for the year 1795 at L. 12 that the Sheriff give him credit therefor(e).

Ordered that John Cook & Thomas Kennedy Gent'n are appointed Judges & John Brasher Clerk for the ensuing Election. Present Thomas Kennedy and James Miller Gentn

Page 46-Ordered that the Surveyor of this County do run the dividing line between this County & the County of Harrison giving the Surveyor of the Said County of Harrison legal notice thereof and make Report thereof to the next Court.

Ordered that William Montgomery be & is appointed Constable he having been duly qualified.

Ordered on Motion of Thomas Kennedy that he is no longer to be considered as a Tavern Keeper in this County.

Ordered that Philip Coleman act as Keeper of the Stray Pen for this County & that he shall be allowed therefore 4/6 each day of the Court.

Ordered that the Commissioners appointed to collect the Money voluntarily subscribe for erecting the public buildings pay Stephen Lyon L41-1.3 the amount of his Account for building the jail of the County.

John Bartle appointed Overseer of the Road from Newport to Thomas Lindsays in the room of Henry Brasher.

Timothy Raredon, William Montgomery and James Fitzpatrick are added to the Viewers formerly appointed to mark out the nearest & best way from the Widow Stevens's to the Mason line on a direction -to Washington they being Sworn before they act.
