At a Court held for Campbell County on Monday the 4th day of April 1796 at the house of Jacob Fowler in the Town of Newport.

A Plan of the Town of Newport with conditions memorandums and a relinquishment was produced in Court by James Taylor Attorney in fact for James Taylor Senr acknowledged by the said Attorney and ordered to be recorded.

On the motion of Levi Todd it is ordered that Squire Grant, John Robert, Archibald H. Reed & Charles Daniel Gentlemen or any two of them act as Commissioners to attend on the 6th Instt at the beginning of an Entry in the name of Howel Lewis for 1250 Acres beginning one quarter of a Mile South of an Encampment made by the army marching against the Indian Towns in 1788? (1780) on the night of the 13th of July about 18 Miles from the forks of Licking & about five Miles from the head of Bank Lick & to run &c and to take the depositions of such Witnesses as shall be brought forward for the establishment of the above Entry.

On motion ordered that the same persons or any two of them are appointed to attend on the 7th Instt to take Depositions to establish an Entry in the name of the said Levies for 3500 Acres on the dividing Ridge between Grassy Creek and the middle fork of Bank Lick Creek beginning at the top of the ridge leading to a Creek from the forks of Licking at a red Oak with many Chops on it and marked I. F. thence to run S W 800 poles & thence N. W. at right angles from both ends to include the quantity.

The persons appointed to lay off the Road from the Widow Perrys Ferry on the ohio to the Salt works on Bank Lick & from thence to intersect the George Town Trace made their Report in these words.

"We undersigned in pursuance of an order of Court to us directed viewed the Road from the Widow Perrys Ferry on the ohio to the Salt works on Bank Lick & so to George Town Trace as follows from the trace to the Lick or to William Courseys on Licking across the Licking to near the House of Thomas Lindsay to the Grassy Creek road along the same about 3 Miles & so in the present trace to the ferry. Given under our hands Campbell County April 4, 1796." Signed Thomas Lindsey, Ellison Williams, Jacob Mills

On consideration where of it is Ordered that the said Road be established agreeable to the Report that Thomas Lindsay act as Overseer of said Road from Widow Perrys to Licking that the Male labouring Titheables from the Mouth of 3 Mile as low as Caldwells & across to Licking do attend the said Overseer when requisite to assist in cutting out & Keeping the same in good repair as a Bridle way that William DeCoucy act as Overseer of the said Road from thence to the Salt Works and that all the Male labouring Titheables above Weavers Mill on the waters of Bank Lick & Licking do attend the said overseer in cutting out & Keeping the same (when requisite) in good repair as a Bridle way.

John Stuard is appointed a Constable in this County & he took the Oath of a Constable & in other respects qualified according to Law.

Ordered that the Sheriff pay Jacob Barrickman Two pounds four shillings & nine pence out of the Depositum of the County Levy.

An Inventory and appraisement of the Estate of John Bonner was presented in Court & ordered to be recorded.

An Inventory & Appraisement of the Estate of Elisha Arnold was presented in Court & ordered to be recorded.

A Deed from the Trustees of Falmouth to Duncan Campbell was produced in Court certified according to Law & ordered to be recorded.

On Motion of Nathan Kelly Sheriff & with the approbation of the Court Charles Daniel Junr being qualified according to law was appointed Deputy Sheriff.

Page 40-On Motion of John Grant it is Ordered that the order of June Court last for granting a Writ of ad quad damnum be reviewed & that the Sheriff attend with a Jury of Freeholders on the 22nd Inst on the Premisses.

The Orders of the Road from the Mouth of Licking to Wilmington made in February last is so far rescinded as directs the viewers of it to take it by DeCourceys run & they are hereby Ordered to make out the nearest and best way from Wilmington to Newport.

On the motion of Mary Perry It is ordered that a License be granted her to keep a ferry from the Lands of her late husband on the Ohio to the opposite shore she having with Thomas Lindsay her Security entered into and acknowledged Bond according to Law.

On Motion of Obadiah Scott it is ordered that a License be granted him to Keep an Ordinary in this County for one year he having entered into Bond together with Security & the Same being acknowledged according to Law.

On Motion of John Arnold it is ordered that a License be granted him to keep Tavern in this County for One year he having entered into & acknowledged Bond with Security according to Law.

Page 41-Ordered that Arthur Connelly,  Henry McLaughlin,   Ellison Williams and James Williams or any three of them being first sworn do view and mark out the nearest & best way from Big bone Lick to Newport and make report thereof to the Court.

Ordered that Henry Voden,  Arthur Connelly, Henry McLaughlin & John Arnold or any three of them being first Sworn do view and mark out the nearest and best way from Moselys Station on the Ohio to the big bone lick and from thence to the Licking Trace on a direction of George Town & make report thereof to the Court.
