Albert and Martha Bartlow

Albert R Bartlow was born 28 Dec 1844 in Carthage, Kentucky, the son of Thomas F Bartlow and Evaline Herndon. He enlisted in the Union Army on 3 Oct 1864 serving in the 53rd Kentucky Regiment during the Civil War. Albert's regiment was organized in the fall of 1864 in Paris Ky. He fought his first battle on 18 Dec 1864 in Marion Va. the second on 21 Dec 1864 in Saltville Va. In the second expedition to Saltville, Albert and his regiment suffered much from cold and long, fatiguing marches. He participated in many skirmishes and battles including Clinch River, Marion and Saltville, in all of which he performed his duty to the satisfaction of the commanding generals.
Albert mustered out at Louisville Ky. 15 Sep 1865. After the war he returned to Campbell County and married Martha Jane Moore 13 Mar 1871 in Carthage. Martha Jane was born 12 Oct 1852 in Carthage, Kentucky, the daughter of Oliver Moore and Mary Ellen Painter.
