It should be noted that Scott County, Ky. had a fire in the courthouse 1837 as a result after this fire all legible words records were copied. There are spaces and or dots (….) in the early Scott Co., Ky. records

1. Anna Thompson-Will-Will Book A-Pages 134-135-Dated August Court 1802

Anna Thompson’s will was written 12^th day of June 1798 and proven August Court 1802.

Anna Thompson’s will also names the following children-William, Clifton Asa, John Thompson and her daughters-Ann Waller, Mary Wigglesworth, Unity Smith, Elizabeth Rodes, and Lydia Fergurson.

Executors were son-in-law Rodes Smith and son David Thompson

3. Sally Hawkins-Will-Will Book C-Pages 37-39-Dated 29^th day of August 1816 and proven October Court 1819

This indenture made and entered into this 29^th day of August in the year of our Lord 1816. This being my last will and Testament. In the name of God Amen, I, Sally Hawkins, of Scott County, Kentucky being of sound mind and in my natural ___ do hereby ratify Confirm and make this my last will and Testament.

First I give up my soul to God who gave it. Trusting the Jesus Christ only for the Salvation of my soul and my body and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my friends and it respects all my worldly goods. They are to be disposed as hereafter designated.

First I will and bequeath two dollars to William Wilson having provided for him sufficiently. I will and bequeath so much of my own money as will pay the Live(?) heretofore named the full value of Negro Joseph now in my possession or I wish him to have his freedom at my death……..should he be valued at seven hundred dollars or upwards…….this to be Strictly attended to by my Exos. and heirs as it….. He should be set at liberty and I also will and bequeath to said Negro Joseph thirty dollars of my Estate and all the balance of my estate I do hereby will and bequeath to his heirs hereafter designated ..Namely Jamison Hawkins, William Hawkins, Peggy Cave, Sally S. Thomas, Nancy Cason, Fanny Thomas, Betsy Fakwin, Lucinda Davis and their lawful Isam. But this Indenture of ….. to be so fully understood that should my heirs …. Depart this life and having no lawful child in….. Heirs …. property is to be Returned to the surviving Heirs …. her in named ….

Codicil or Supplement to the foregoing will I give and bequeath to my daughter Lucy Davis and her children to their proper use and in case of the death of my said daughter Lucy Davis & her children the Said property to return to the brothers and sisters of the said Lucy Davis & her heirs………………………………...................................................

Item I give to my daughter Davis the following property which I have purchased from Daniel W. Davis the following negroes Nan, Ann, John, and Lewis for the proper use and that of her children so long as they live and to the use and benefit of no other person whatsoever except that of her brothers and sisters, in case of death of the said Lucy Davis and her children it is to be distinctly understood that the property hereby given to my said daughter Lucy …… not to be subject to pay any debts but what she may contract herself I do also give to my said daughter and her children the following property to wit three beds, bedsteads & furniture, two tables, one __? and candlestand, two chairs, and cradle all the kitchen furniture, which I purchased from Daniel W. Davis, also one __?, one writing desk, one pair of candlesticks, one cow it is to be for them and distinctly understood, that I give and bequeath to my said daughter Lucinda Davis and her children the one equal part of the Estate of John Hawkins dec’d. which I hold at this time and which Interest I have purchased of Daniel W. Davis. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 17^th day of June 1817.

4. Clifton Rodes-Will-Will Book C-Pages 40-42-Dated 25^th day of September 1816 and Proven October Court 1819

James Bunch, son-in-law, one thousand and forty-five dollars and 42 cents on the same and the interest that may be on the same to him and his heirs forever.

I give and bequeath unto James Rogers, son-in-law, one thousand and forty-five dollars and 42 cents on the same and the interest that may be on the same to him and his heirs forever.

7. Estate Settlement of William Tompkins-Will Book D-Page170-March Court 1813

In obedience to an order of the County Court of Scott to us as directed we have proceeded to Settle with Peter McArthur his proceedings on the Estate of William Tompkins dec’d. and do apart _ followed viz ………………………………...............................

It appears that on the 12^th day of June 1810 a Settlement was made with Said McArthur concerning Said Estate by order of the Same Court by Abram Buford and others and we being no cause to make any change in that settlement from which it appears that Said McArthur was to be charged the……….of the land and hire of the Negroes from that time for……………..
