LOY FAMILY OF ADAIR COUNTY, KENTUCKY

MARTIN LOY and MARY "POLLY" SELLARS was in Glens Fork Creek, Adair Co., KY.  Before November 16, 1825

MARTIN LOY was born September 09, 1775 in Orange Co., NC, and died between May 04 - 05, 1836 in Glens Fork Creek, Adair Co., KY.  He married MARY "POLLY" SELLARS December 18, 1799 in Orange Co., NC.  She was born March 07, 1781, and died between December 09, 1863 - 1865.

Information obtained from Jean May Waggener Chapin D.A.R. Nat'l
#492647. Page 174 of Sharp Book, Martin Loy moved to Kentucky in 1822,
Settling on Glensfork Creek. Martin was buried on his farm. It is thought
that he is the first to buried on the Loy Cemetery. A small limestone
about 6"x6" marks his resting place. Page 175 Sharp Book.

MARTIN LOY and MARY SELLARS had eight children all born in Orange Co., NC except WILLIAM SELLARS SR. LOY who was the eight child.  WILLIAM "SELLARS" SR. LOY, was born November 16, 1825, Adair Co., KY; d. September 13, 1866.
His son WILLIAM SELLARS JR. LOY married my great Aunt VESTA WHEELER.

WILLIAM SELLARS JR. LOY was born April 11, 1867 in Adair Co., KY, and died February 24, 1945.  He married VESTA/VESTER WHEELER September 06, 1893 in Adair Co., KY, daughter of NATHANIEL WHEELER and FRANCES YARBERRY.  She was born August 15, 1874 in Adair Co., KY, and died February 08, 1945 in Adair Co., KY.

DR. MILLARD CLEO LOY  was born October 05, 1918 in Adair Co., KY, and died April 07, 1980 in Adair Co., KY.  He married HARRIET ELLEN WHEELER 1940, daughter of JOHN WHEELER and ANNIE BREEDING.  She was born 1910 in Adair Co., KY, and died April 12, 1983 in Adair Co., KY.

Note: JOHN WHEELER was the grandson of my grandparents NATHANIEL WHEELER and FRANCES YARBERRY.

Dr. Loy was a noted Doctor in Columbia, KY.
