Sheridan County Historical Society & Mickey's Museum

Inspiring An Interest In History

Historical Society Office & Museum

Welcome

Once, the vast prairie was filled with buffalo and Indians. Many small settlements came and went but some flourished and influenced the birth and growth of Sheridan County. With each of these communities came the opportunity for trade and success on the prairie.

Most who came here did not think of themselves as forefathers, though now we know they were. They were brave pioneers—some lured here by new chances, some fleeing old oppressions. They worked and played upon these plains. Their stories have become our heritage.

Now, on this same prairie, we honor the pioneers and their stories with Sheridan County Historical Society & Mickey’s Museum. The museum is a living, evolving history center, for young and old alike, teaching the appreciation of our history.
