The following is taken from Cemeteries in Sumner County, Kansas by Harvey and Ruth Swan (1983).
"South Haven Cemetery, South Haven Twnsp, R1W, T34, Sec. 33, NE c of NE 1/4. Location from South Haven: 1/2 mile N, 1 W.
A story as told through the years relates that 2 years after a Mr. Geeslin came to the South Haven area, he purchased 1 acre of land for burial purposes for $30 that he had collected from resident s of the community.
His action was prompted by the fact that a Kleinsteiber baby had died and there was no cemetery in which to bury it.
After the Rose Hill Cemetery was established, it was decided to move the graves to that location because this one was not satisfactory as far as the lay of the land was concerned."
