The following is taken from Cemeteries in Sumner County, Kansas by Harvey and Ruth Swan (1983).

"Cowboy Cemetery, Sumner Twnsp, R 2 W, t 31, Sec 14, SW corner of SW 1/4.  Location from Anson: 1 1/2 S, 1 E.

This plot was across the road east of Austin Cemetery.  In the very early pioneer days, cowboys and travelers were buried here.  Then when the Austin Cemetery was established, people began to use it and later the markers were moved to that location"
