APRIL 19

Tour the Wichita Public Library
Genealogy Room

The SCGS will meet at the Wichita Public Library, 223 S. Main, Wichita, Kansas at 7:00 p.m.. Marsha Stenholm will give the society a tour of the Genealogy Room, and there may be a short time to do some hand-on research.

MAY - 10

How to Safely Store and Preserve your Photos
Bonnie Loewen, Creative Memories consultant, will present the program on storing and preserving your current photographs, as well as your heirloom photographs. Meal at 6:00 p.m. Meeting at 7:00 p.m.

JUNE - 14

Hands-On Workshop for Preserving your Photographic Memories
Bonnie Loewen, Creative Memories consultant, will present the Hands-On Workshop. Bring several photographs to work with. The meeting is free, but those wishing to participate in the workshop will need to bring $10.00 for supplies.

The meal will start at 5:30 p.m., and the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

JULY 12

Getting Acquainted With the Daughters of the American Revolution

Interested in Joining the Daughters of the American Revolution?

Mary Jo Horn, DAR, Wichita, Kansas will speak on the records that the DAR has available for genealogical research, as well as requirements to join! Join the SCGS members for an interesting meeting. Mary Jo also has information for those interested in joining the Sons of the American Revolution.

Meet at the Wellington Family Steak House, East Highway 160, Wellington, Kansas,

Monday July 12, 5:30 p.m. for the meal, and 6:30 p.m. for the meeting.

AUGUST 9

Mexican-American Research and Railroad History

Ray Olais, Newton High School teacher, is compiling a photographical history of Mexican-Americans, and the Railroad. Olais will share slides of this era (1920's), as well as interesting stories.

Olais is collecting stories and photographs for his collection. If you have photos to share, stories to tell, or love hearing about the early days of Kansas - join the Sumner County Genealogical Society on August 9th.

Meal - 5:30 p.m., Meeting - 6:30 p.m. at the Wellington Family Steak House, East Highway 160, Wellington, Kansas.

Caldwell Historical Tour

Orphan Trains - Part I
Joyce Church will speak about the Orphan Trains that came to Kansas. If you are interested in hearing about the orphan trains, and their young passengers, or have stories to tell, or just love hearing about the early days of Kansas - join the Sumner County Genealogical Society on August 9th.

Meal - 5:30 p.m., Meeting - 6:30 p.m. at the Wellington Family Steak House, East Highway 160, Wellington, Kansas.

NOVEMBER 8

HERITAGE QUEST ROAD SHOW

Leland K. Meitzler, professional genealogist, and founder and Executive Editor of "Heritage Quest Magazine" will present:

"Locating Your Ancestor's Family When All You Know is the State!"

There is no charge to attend this program, though donations will be gratefully and happily accepted!

Registration:    6:00 p.m.
Lecture:      6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Break:     7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sales of books and subscriptions are made during breaks.

Lecture:    8:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
