STRAIN--Edith "Edie" Strain, only daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Strain, died last
night at 7:30, of membranous croup.
Funeral will take place to-day. Services at the Presbyterian Church.
Edie was a bright little girl five years
old and her death is a severe affliction
to the bereaved family, who have the
heartfelt sympathy of the whole community.

SWARTZ--
Jane Willis Swartz, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in Boulder, Colo. She was a former Sherman resident. She was born Nov. 3, 1912, in Kirwin to U.S. Grant Willis and Grace Brewer. She married Roy Swartz March 5, 1932, in Smith Center, Kan. A 1969 graduate of the University of Wyoming, she was a teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a grandson. Survived by two daughters, Mary Grace Elliott of Boulder and Ruby A. Hoffner of Phoenix; a sister, Ann Dimond of Houston; a brother, Warren Willis of Pharr, Texas; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial service Wednesday at Holiday Hills Community Center in Federal Heights, with burial in the Kirwin, Kan., cemetery. (abstract, The Sheridan [CO] Press, Jan. 30, 2001)
