Leavenworth County Marriages Lewis-Gist Wedding, Oct. 9, 1879
The marriage of Edward J. Lewis to Miss
Minnie Gist, daughter of John Gist of
High Prairie township, took place at the
father's residence at five o'clock on Thursday
evening, Rev. J. P. Bauserman officiating.
The attendants of the bride were Miss Katie
Budd and Hattie Snell and of the groom
were Arthur Gist and John Hardesty.
The bride was attired In white Paris muslin, trimmed with valenciennes lace, with
veil and orange blossoms and diamond ornaments. Her attendants wore white Paris
muslin, trimmed in pink and blue, with
gold ornaments. The gentlemen wore the
regulation dress.
The ceremony was performed In the open
air and was a most beautiful and impressive
one. After congratulations had been tendered, the guests partook of a most sumptuous supper.
