Geary County Cemeteries
Removals from Branscom Cemetery

As many of you know, the original Milford Cemetery, Branscom, (and other smaller cemeteries) were moved for the construction of the Milford Dam. Legal papers filed in United States District Court named three tracts of land to be condemned, and for the removal and reburial of bodies in cemeteries contained in those tracts. Below are names of people who were known to be buried in Branscom cemetery, along with the names of their next of kin (if known). The tract of land that included Montague Cemetery was also listed as being condemned, but the list did not include specific names from that cemetery. There were no dates on these papers, but the dam was built in the mid 1960's.
