Geary Co., KS AHGP-1856 Territorial Census, Dist. 9

1856 Kansas Territorial Census
District #9

The District #9 census of 1856 included most of what is now Geary County, and included parts of surrounding counties. From the census: "Commencing on the Smoky Hill Fork, beyond the most westerly settlements; thence down the same and to the Kansas River to the Kansas river to the mouth of Wild Cat Creek; thence up said creek to the head-waters thereof; thence due north to the Independence emigrant road; thence up said road to the north line of the Territory; thence west along the same to the most westerly settlements; and thence due south to the place of beginning. Included are civilians in and around Ft. Riley"

I have also included images of the original census pages to view--it is possible I may have mis-transcribed names, and there is other information included on these pages--native born or naturalized citizens, and those who are allowed to vote: Page 1; Page 2; Page 3
