One of the early settlers in the county was G. Webb Bertram who came early in 1878. Was especially interested in getting a newspaper in Oberlin. In later years was one of the incorporators of the HERALD Publishing Co. He served as judge for four years and made a good official. He finally tired of the law business and went to California and is living on a fruit farm. He however still retains his interest in the HERALD and we regularly receive his renewal the first of every year.
