Tanner, Silva Lenora died March 20, 1946 in San Francisco, CA; born Aug. 17, 1903 in Minneapolis, KS , the youngest child of Alton and Anna Burwell; married Charles Tanner March 24, 1920 in Abilene; preceded in death by her daughter Maxine, Jan. 4, 1940; survived by her husband of Richmond CA. and parents of Clay Center, her daughter, Mrs. Jeanne (Gordon) Miner of Golden CO, sister Mrs. Otto DeWitt of Abilene and brothers Dallas and John, also of Abilene; burial March 27 in Greenwood Cemetery. George Elmer Taylor, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Taylor, who reside two miles east of Broughton, was born January 18, 1911. He died Nov. 27, 1913 at 9:45 p.m. He left a father, mother, two brothers and other relatives and friends to whom he had endeared himself during his short life, who mourn his departure. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. L. Fesler at the Broughton M.E. church. Burial was in the Broughton cemetery. (CC Times, Dec. 4, 1913)

Duaine W. Thompson born June 24, 1935 at Washington County, Kan., the son of Ralph and Amelia (Struber) Thompson; died September 15, 2003; married Anne Marie Stevenson on October 28, 1956 at the Idana Presbyterian Church; preceded in death by his father, Ralph Thompson, one brother, Larry Thompson, and one sister, Darlene Sieverin; survived by his wife, two sons, two sisters, his mother and four grandchildren; burial in Parallel Cemetery, Washington County

O. L. Thompson who passed out of this life on February 6, 1916, at the home of his mother, Mrs. Samuel Funk, Salina, Kansas, was born Oct. 1, 1881 at Colchester, Illinois. At the age of three he moved with his parents to Friend, Nebraska and when eight years old, his father died. He then came to Abilene with his mother and brother in 1889, and made this his home until 1909, when he went to Cherry Co., Nebraska and homesteaded a claim. He sold his homestead and returned to Kansas, February 23, 1915. On April 12 he opened several concessions with Landes Carnival Co. and was with them until October when he came to Abilene and had a tooth extracted. On November 13th he left for De Soto, Missouri to join the Wagoner Amusement Company, and on November 17 became sick; and a few weeks later was taken to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where his mother met him and brought him to her home in Longford, on November 24. He was taken to Salina on January 28th, and an operation was performed; a piece of the root of the tooth was taken out and the jaw bone found to be honey combing. Pete, as he was called, was a very patient sufferer until he was called home. He leaves a mother, two half brothers, two half sisters and a host of friends to mourn his loss. On Tuesday morning a short service was conducted at Salina and then the body taken to Abilene, where the funeral services was held at the Evangelical church. Burial was made in the Abilene Cemetery. William H. Thompson was born in Missouri on April 6, 1854; died July 3, 1916 near Industry. He was married March 19, 1882 to Amelia Yeager. To this union were born two sons and one daughter, one son dying in infancy. Mr. Thompson was a member of the Baptist church at Junction City. He leaves to mourn his loss, one son, Bert Thompson of Industry, one daughter, Mrs. Lelia Emsley of Manhattan and one step-daughter, Mrs. William Loader of near Ladysmith; also one brother of Junction City. They were all present at the funeral services, which were held at the Industry church; interment was made in Greenridge cemetery. (Longford Leader, July 13, 1916)

Thorman, 82, died Wednesday, Nov.22, 2000, at Clay Center; born Oct. 7, 1918, in Clay County, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Sanneman) Schrum; preceded in death by an infant son; married Eldon Thorman April 17, 1941, and he survives of the home; additional survivors include a daughter, Eilene Wright and husband, Ron, of Emporia; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; burial in Greenwood Cemetery

Riechers Thuma, 89, died Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, in Abilene; born Sept. 22, 1917, in Clay County, the daughter of Frank and Edith (Bergin) Riechers; married Harold Walker and they later divorced; married Donald Thuma, he preceded her in death in 2003; survived by two stepsons, Ron Thuma of Hartford and Jim Thuma of Clinton, Mo.; burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

Wayne L. Trautwein, 93, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 in Kansas City; born December 15, 1913, at Green, the son of Martin C. and Grace M. (Appleton) Trautwein; married Fern E. Anderson February 26, 1936 in Clay Center, she survives of the home; preceded in death by his parents,one brother, Russell Trautwein and one sister, Jerry Withrow; other survivors include two daughters Connie Trautwein,Sharon Armstrong and husband Kent; two sons, Terry Trautwein and wife Paula, Dick Trautwein and wife Becky,all of the Kansas City area; two brothers, Robert Trautwein and Joe Trautwein, both of Clay Center; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Gladstone, Mo.

Frank Trickle was born in Baden, Germany, in 1865, and died June 17, 1915 after an illness of over three years. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at the Oak Hill church and interment was made in the Hamilton Cemetery. Mr. Trickle came to this country in 1883, at the age of 18. He resided in Diamond, Illinois for three years, when he came to Kansas, and where he remained until his death. On August 6, 1891 he married Lucy George and to this union two children were born, a son and a daughter. His wife died June 3, 1905. Mr. Trickle was a section foreman for 15 years. On January 28, 1912 he was stricken with paralysis and was taken to the hospital at Topeka, where he remained until his death. He was a member of the Woodman Lodge. Besides his children, Frank Trickle and Cecilia Wardwell, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Gasswint and Mrs. Bertha Truman, and four brothers, Gus, Lee, Adolph and William Trickle, to mourn his departure. Fred Trickle was accidentally ran over and killed Monday forenoon by passenger train No. 306 between this place and Manchester. Fred, who has always been partially blind, was walking up the track about a mile and a half this side of Manchester when he met the southbound passenger. On account of his poor eyesight he did not see the train and the ground being slippery it is supposed and fell in front of the train. The accident happened at a crossing and passengers said the whistle was not sounded until the train was not sounded until the train struck the unfortunate man. The funeral was held that evening on account of the condition of the body, and interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Fred was a hard worker and a good boy, and the accident which snuffed out his life was a sad one for the relatives and many friends. (Longford Leader, Jun. 25, 1914)

Mrs. C. A. Tripp was born in New York state July 27th, 1847, and died April 10, 1913, age 65 years, 8 months 21 days. She was married to Alexander Killen on July 3, 1872. To this union five children were born, all being boys, three of whom are living: John, Asa and William. Her first husband died in October, 1879. She then married A. M. Tripp on November 8, 1880. Two children were born by her second husband, both boys. The deceased was converted at the age of thirty years with the Christian church, and afterward united with the Baptist church at Clay Center. Funeral services were held April 11, and were conducted by Rev. Davis of Miltonvale. Interment was made in the Shields Cemetery. (Longford Leader, Apr. 17, 1913)

W. Jean Tripp, 82, died Wednesday, Aug.22, 2007; born July 15, 1925, the daughter of Otis and Ada (Moore) Avery; married Earl LeRoy Tripp on Aug. 16, 1944, at Clay Center; he preceded her in death January 9, 1999; survived by two sons, Ronald E. Tripp of Lecompton and Donald R. Tripp and wife Margie of Mission; one sister-in-law, Betty Sharp of Clay Center; one brother-in-law, Henry Tripp and wife Louise of Glendora, Calif.; two grandchildren; andone great-grandson; inurnment service will beat Greenwood Cemetery.

Maude E. Trott, 83, of Manchester, died Tuesday, May 1, 1973 at Salina.  She was born April 3, 1889 at Selden, and had lived most of her life at Mt. Liberty, west of Oak Hill.  The funeral will be Friday, May 4, at the Manchester United Methodist Church, with burial in the Mt. Liberty Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, John, of the home; four daughters, Elizabeth Fuller of Miltonvale, Margaret Neaderhister of Longford, Esther Gurley of Junction City and Irene Viola of Warren, Ohio; one son, Rev. David Trott of Sylvia; one brother, Merrill McPeek of Sun City, Arizona; 12 grandchildren and 9 g-grandchildren.

Miss Esther E. Trumble, daughter of Mrs. Frances Trumble, died tuesday afternoon at the home near Gatesville, on the Younkin farm. Death came at the age of eighteen years and was due to tuberculosis, from which disease the deceased suffered for a long time before death came to relieve her. The funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at the Broughton chuch, and tomorrow the body will be shipped to Waterville, the former home town, for burial. (CC Times, Feb. 12, 1914)

Trumpp, 84, died Thursday, April 27, 2006, in Clay Center; born Aug. 10, 1921, at Clay Center, the daughter ofHerman and Anna (Bauer) Friederich; married Harold Trumpp Sept. 17, 1947; preceded in death by onebrother, Armin Friederich; one sister, Anita Friederich; and onebrother-in-law, Wallace Fowles; survivors include her husband, Harold Trumpp of the home at Clay Center;two sisters, Leota Fowles of Clay Center and Wilma Trumpp and husbandArnold of Clay Center; 18 nieces and nephews; 37 great-nieces andnephews; and 15 great-great nieces and nephews; burial in Ebenezer Cemetery.

East Chapman Creek--J. M. Tudor was called to Lindsborg, Kansas, by the serious illness of his mother, Charlotte Tudor, on Tuesday. She passed away Wednesday afternoon and was laid to rest in the Abilene Cemetery, Friday afternoon. She and her husband were one of the early settlers in Chapman township and was well known and loved by the older folks of the neighborhood. (Longford Leader, April 26, 1917)

Samuel Reed Turner was born in Madison Co., Ohio, August 17, 1851 and died at his home near Longford, November 14, 1912, aged 61 years, 3 months and 3 days. On January 30, 1873 he was united in marriage to Miss Rhoda Elizabeth Freeman, also of Ohio. Seven children were given to bless this home, all of whom grew to manhood and womanhood, and survive him except little Samuel Leroy who died when a child but 13 months old. For a number of years Mr. Turner had been a patient sufferer and for several weeks before his death was confined to his room. But early Thursday morning the Blessed Master called to him from this world so full of suffering, to that land where the weary are at rest. On Friday afternoon at three o'clock funeral services were held from the home where a large number of friends had gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to him whom they had loved so well. Services were conducted by Rev. Reighnear of Manchester and the body was tenderly laid to rest in Spring Hill cemetery, better known as the Swartwood cemetery. A faithful wife and six children, three sons and three daughters, and hosts of friends are left to mourn his departure. The six children are: Mrs. D. H. Lockhart of Pringey, Oklahoma; Jessie T. Turner who resides near Longford; Mrs. R. S. Cowan of near Longford; Martin A. Turner from near Solomon; Mrs. W. A. Smith of Vine and Harry L. Turner who still lived with him in the home. All were with him during his last illness, tenderly caring for his every need. But No! the loving care and medical aid could not save the life of their dear one and today our hearts ache for them in their loneliness. (Longford Leader, Nov. 21, 1912)

William P. Turner, 71, died at Hiawatha.  The son of Mr. and Mrs. William Turner, he was born near Oak Hill on Nov. 27, 1884.  He is survived by his wife, Leona; two children, William of Wichia and Josephine, Ft. Campbell, Ky.; and one sister, Mrs. J. R. White, Manhattan. Burial Greenwood Cemetery. (abstract from paper dated Feb. 12, 1956)
