This 1881 Farmers' Directory is only a partial listing of all the landowners who resided in Clay County; this was a subscription directory--either the person paid to be included or agreed to buy a copy of the directory, so only those who paid were included. I intend to transcribe a listing of landowners from the original plat maps, so this site will have a more complete record of families living in Clay in 1881.
