OLD PAPERS
1916 listing of active and defunct county papers, published by the Kansas Historical Society.
Two out-of-state papers, the Joplin Globe and Miami News-Record (and earlier incarnations of both) also printed Cherokee County news and obituaries.
CURRENT PAPERS
The Baxter Springs News and the Cherokee Advocate recently merged to become the Cherokee County News-Advocate. What's great about this merger is that there is now a website for the paper, the Southeast Kansas Voice. It contains obits and is updated, if necessary, on a daily basis.
The Galena Sentinel-Times website allows you to view past issues of the paper back to 2005.
