Frank Daeschner.

Frank Daeschner, the enterprising hardware merchant of Hiawatha, was born July 19, 1858, in Kane County, Ill. When he was eight years old the family moved to Richardson County, Neb., where he grew to manhood on the farm receiving the education furnished by the district school of his locality. He spent a couple of years In Texas and California and then returned to Richardson County, Neb., and purchased a quarter section of land a mile from the Kansas line. Here he resided until the spring of 1899 when he moved to Hiawatha purchasing the O. C. Hill property. He was a successful farmer and stock raiser building up a tine herd of Poland China swine and other fancy stock. In June 1900 Mr. Daeschner purchased the George H. Adams stock of hardware in Hiawatha and has devoted his energies for the past two years to making this business a success. He has given special attention to furnace work and has equipped quite a number of residences and public buildings with complete, up to date heating plants during this time.

Mr. Daeschner is an active church and Sunday School worker. He is a member of the Evangelical Church of this city, is a member of the board of directors of the church, superintendent of the Sunday School and president of the Young Peoples Alliance. He is also a member of the executive committee of the Kansas Conference branch of the Young Peoples Alliance, an organization which includes Kansas, Missouri and part of Oklahoma, and has served three times as president of the Conference Branch.

Before coming to Hiawatha, Mr. Daeschner served as a member of the school board, as township clerk and as a justice of the peace. He is now one of the directors in the Blue Valley Mutual Insurance Co. He is a Woodman being a member of Oak Leaf Camp at Hiawatha

Mr. Daeschner found a happy companion In the person of Miss Kate Schalble of Falls City, Nebr. They were married Feb. 23, 1888 and are now the proud parents of four children named Esther, Wesley, Ruth and Frank, Jr.
