Allen Lee Schnelle

Allen Lee Schnelle, 72, Medicine Lodge died Friday, March 17, 2006, at his home in Medicine Lodge.

He was born June 14, 1933 at Medicine Lodge, Kansas, the son of J. Royal and Marguerite (Stone) Schnelle. A resident of Medicine Lodge for most of his life, he worked a range of jobs including truck driver, lineman for Pacific Railroad, lawn care, and at National Gypsum Company.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955.

On January 20, 1956, he married Maxine Boss at Evanston, Wyoming. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Tim Schnelle and his wife Melvena, Abingdon, Virginia, Michael Schnelle and his wife Jeannine, Stillwater, Oklahoma; and a daughter Gloria Fischer and her husband Jeff, Hutchinson, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Lee and Summer Schnelle, Heidi and Andy Fischer; Cheri and John Wilson; Matthew Schnelle; Hannah and Amanda Schnelle; and a great granddaughter, Katie Wilson; 4 brothers, Howard Schnelle, Merle Schnelle, Missouri; Lyle Schnelle, Apple Valley, California; Dennis Schnelle, Meade, Kansas; 2 sisters, Ethel McDaniel, Medicine Lodge and Rita Schnelle, Wichita, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Schnelle, and two sisters, Willa Magruder and Ava Metzger.

Allen enjoyed gardening but his greatest love was for his family, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Funeral services were on Monday, March 20, 2006 at First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, with military honors provided by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church or Barber County Veterans Memorial Wall in care of Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge. Personal condolences may be left for the family at www.larrisonmortuary.com.
