Susie Pulliam was probably born in what is now Robertson County, Kentucky and married Joseph Vaughan in Kentucky. She died 1808 in Kentucky. Joseph Vaughan then moved to Wilcox County, Alabama where he married Sarah Elizabeth Lamb Reaves, the widow of James W. Reaves. He was in Wilcox County by 1816.

There was a Benjamin Pullum (Pullium) in Fayette County, Kentucky on the tax list in 1789 and also a Joseph Pullum there in the same year. A Letitia Pullem of Fayette County married in 1822. Susie named a son Benjamin.

Children of Susie Pulliam and Joseph  Vaughan were:

1. John Pulliam Vaughan, born Feb. 29, 1804 in Eddyville, Caldwell County, KY. He married Rebecca Richards of Wilcox County, AL on June 6, 1831. This family left Wilcox County moving to Chunky, MS ca. 1865. He died there on March 22, 1890. (A descendant of this family states that Rebecca Richards was daughter of John Richards and Jemmie Snipes, and her grandfather was named John Richards and her great-grandfather was named Richard Richards.) 
 

2. Pickney Vaughan was born ca. 1806 in KY. Married Tabitha Stanley, daughter of Isaac and Martha Stanley in Wilcox County, AL. He moved to Lauderdale, MS. And died there in 1869.
 

3. Benjamin Vaughan was born ca. 1808 in KY. Married Jane Ann Richards on Feb. 3, 1836 in Wilcox Co., AL. He died 1888 and is buried in Capell Cemetery in Wilcox Co., AL.

Children of Benjamin Vaughan and Jane Ann Richards were:

1. Rebecca (Becky) Vaughan, born 1845 and died 1925. She was considered mentally slow.
 

2. Susannah Vaughan, my ancestor, was born Oct. 20, 1849 and died Jan. 19, 1941. Married Oliver Spencer Henderson on Jan. 7, 1868 in Wilcox Co., AL They are both buried at Capell Cemetery near Camden.
 

3. Tom Vaughan, a Confederate soldier. Died in the war.
