JOHN TRIBBY, a Quaker, was born in Virginia on January 22, 1789. According to family legend, he was orphaned at age 10. By the age of 28 he had somehow made his way to Harrison County, Ohio where he married ANN WHITE. He operated a tannery along with farming his lands. In 1864 John moved his family to a farm in Tippecanoe Township, Henry County, Iowa, where he remained until his death on April 23, 1877.
