John is said to have died of a heart attack.

4 Sep 1779. The Cane Creek MM, Chatham Co NC, disowned John for marring out of unity.
There is no record that John after asked to be reinstated into the Quaker Society

15 Nov 1792 John Jr. bought 113 acres of Cobb Plantaion from his father, John Sr. for £30. The land was on Love's Creek & Blood Run, near Siler City, NC. He bought 244 acres in other tracts before he started selling in preparation to move to Ohio.

John & Ruth Ratcliff with all their children and grandchildren were among a group of some 40 persons, parts of 14 families and their neighbors who left Chatham Co NC on 4 Sep 1804. They brought furniture, two cows and two teams with covered wagons. The party traveled over the mountains to New River and then to what is now Charleston, WV, where the wagons were taken apart and loaded on keel boats and brought to Gallipolis, Ohio, via the Kanawha River. Some of the men and the older boys drove the cows and other livestock overland. At Gallipolis the wagons were reassembled and used for the rest of the journey. Upon reaching Ross County, Ohio, John & Ruth and family camped near Richmondale where some of their North Carolina friends were already located. John was not completely satisfied with that area and took his family on to Salt Creek in Eagle Township in Ross County, now Vinton Co, Ohio [Vinton Co formed 23 Mar 1850].

John entered a quarter section [160 acres] on Salt Creek. This tract was deeded by the heirs of John & Ruth after their deaths to two of their younger sons, Ezekiel & Jesse. Ezekiel sold his share to Jesse who kept the old homestead until 1863 when he moved to Whitley Co, IN.

According to a family Bible, Timothy and Eleanor were married September 10, 1812. The marriage record - the minister's return - says he married them this 12th day of October, 1810. Signed by John Greave, JP. In this case, I would think the Bible was in error.

Ezekiel married "Polly" Hammer on 3 Oct 1816, Highland Co, Ohio - she was born 3 Oct 1799, died 19 Aug 1823, and is buried next to Ezekiel. She is buried as Dorothy and I suspect the marriage transcript is in error and was actually "Dolly" which would have been a nickname for the young Dorothy.
Married Nancy White, 23 Sep 1824, Hocking Co, Ohio. She died 20 Nov 1825, likely in childbirth.
