Appeared Vincent Garner, age 87 years. Wife is Rachel Raliff - they were married in Wayne Co, Oct of 1822. He enlisted in Williams Town, Clinton Co, Ohio, in the year 1814. Went west as soon as enlisted, he thinks to lower Sandusky and from there to Chilicothe. Signed with his mark. Archibald E. Small & Thomas J. Smith were witnesses.
Rejected 11 Sep 1873 as his service was performed by a substitute, Henry Garner, who received pay and bounty land warrants. Substitute enlisted 4 Sep 1813, discharged 3 Mar 1814.

Vincent Garner married Rachel Ratcliff, 15 Nov 1820, Wayne Co IN. Rachel was a sister to Elizabeth Ratcliff that married Enoch Garner. Certainly another reason for the consideration that Enoch and Vincent, if not brothers, were close kin.

Other marriages that took place in Wayne Co IN might eventually help sort out this family.
The earliest was Laban Garner to Jane Little, 6 Dec 1814
next was the marriage of Vincent to Rachel Ratcliff
Avis Garner married Andrew R. Starback/Starbuck?, 2 Mar 1826
Lydia Garner married Isaac Stout, 9 Feb 1828
then there are two later marriages -
Seth Garner to Elizabeth Harris, 13 Oct 1833
and
Sarah Garner to Nathaniel Maudlin, 6 Mar 1845

The following deed does tie a Vincent to a Henry Garner of Hardin Co TN.

The problem is that Henry Garner whose wife was Nancy and applied for his Revolutionary Pension was living in Hardin Co TN in 1830. Another Henry Garner was also still in Wayne Co KY in 1830.
1830 Census. Wayne Co KY
Henry Garner: 2m 5-10, 2m 10-15, 1m 30-40 [more of an age to be a brother to Vincent!] 3f under 5, 1f 5-10,1f 10-15, 1f 15-20, 1f 40-50
David Garner: 1m age 60-70, 1f age 60-70 Could this be the father of Enoch, Vincent, Job?

Certainly there was more than one Henry Garner in Tennessee, and more than one Vincent....
Another Vincent Garner? Or is this the same as the man earlier in Wayne Co KY? Pulaski Co KY. 9 Oct 1837 - Thomas Hansford Sr of Lincoln Co, KY sold to John Evans Jr. of Pulaski Co for $20 paid by Vincent Garner and bond executed by Hansfrod to Garner 25 Feb 1834, binding Hansford to convey the land to Garner which afterwards was assigned to Squire Denham and then to John Evans Jr. by Denham. 25 or 30 acres in Pulaski on Pitman's Creek, a residue of land Hansford bough of Bob Morris. Geings on Garners Springs Brach running with lines of Singleton and William Hansford. Signed, Thomas Hansford, SR. Wit: T. Hansford, K. Gossett. 12 Jan 1849 proved by K. Gosset and on 3 Feb by Thomas Hansford Jr. Recorded 3 Feb 1849. [Pulaski KY DB 13, p 536-537]

And this Vincent was probably already in Indiana in 1830:
1830 Census. Wayne Co IN, Perry Twp. p.124
Enoch Garner. 1m -5 [Vincent], 1m 5-10, [Jacob] 1m 10-15 [Edom?], 1m 40-50 [Enoch]; 1f -5 [Lydia], 1f 5-10 [Sarah], 2f 10-15 Nancy & Rachel], 1f 30-40 [Elizabeth]
Enumerated next door was another Vincent Garner, age 30-40, likely Enoch's brother.
Vincent had 1 male under 5 [Enoch], himself age 30-40. 1f under 5 [Nancy] and 2 females 5-10 [Elizabeth & Margaret], and a female age 20-30 [wife, Rachel].

Vincent "Gamer" land patent, 10 Nov 1840, NW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 22, T 21 N, R 9 E, Delaware Co., 40 acres. The spelling is open to interpretation, but it could certainly be Garner rather than Gamer. John H. Garner had an adjoining 1/4 - he may be the John listed below, and may have been a son of Vincent's brother Job. That still leaves an unidentified John Garner.
Vincin "Garnet" also had land in Section 7 - the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4. in the same township as above, 40 acres. This time the name was definitely Garner in the original certificate. He was "of" Madison Co, IN. This land was next to Henry Garner, Amos Ratcliff was to the south.

1840 Census. Delaware Co IN
Vincent Garner. 1m age 10-15 [Enoch], 1m 50-60 [ Vincent himself]. 1f under 5 [Rachel], 1f 10-15 [Nancy], 2f 15-20 {Elizabeth & Margaret], 1f 40-50 [wife, Rachel]
on the same page:

James Garner, 1m 20-30, 1f 20-30
John Garner, 1m 20-30, 1f under 5, 1f 20-30
Henry Garner, 1m 5-10, 1m 10-15, 1m 50-60. 1f 5-10, 1f 40-50

One of the John Garners was still in Delaware Co IN in 1850

Certainly the following records are those of Vincent and Rachel:

Vincen Garner, age 56, b. NC. Rachel, age 50, b. NC

Charlotte 6, Vincent 4, both b. IN
Elizabeth Garner, age 26, b. Ohio.
