Sixth Generation

79. Olive Judith "Judy" PERKINS64,71,109 was born on 17 May 1821 or 1824 in Kentucky.71,109 She died on 4 November 1904 at the age of 83.109

Listed on the 1850 Census as Olive J. living with her brother Benjamin? Enumerated next door to William F. Haden & Mary Jane.

Helen Small says that there was also a daughter named Olive - certainly seems likely there could have been other children, but I've found no evidence of any. Bob Dillard tells me that John Wilson was a Confederate sympathizer during the war - but that seems evident from the names of his twin sons. The twin sons are believed to have never married. This family said to be buried Marionville Cemetery, Lawrence Co MO.

In 1860, 32 citizens petitioned the Ozark Presbytery to establish a Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Marionville. Olive Wilson is listed. They organized 4 Apr 1860 with Robert Waters as their pastor.

Living with the family in Marionville in the 1870 Census were John L. Hite, age 41, a miller born in Florida and Joseph & Frank Biggs, ages 31 & 27, blacksmiths born in Pennsylvania.

1900, Buck Prairie, Lawrence Co MO, p.94A, Olive J. Wilson was head of household. Age 76, born May 1824. She had three children, three living. J. Lee and S. Price, aged 38, were born Nov of 1861. Their occupation is given as "Capitalist".

Olive J. wife of John, John, and Nancy wife of James Wilson [John's mother] are said to have all their names on one stone at the Marionville MO I00F Cemetery. Helen Small gave her date of birth from the grave marker as 17 May 1821. This is likely incorrect since her brother William Grief's grave marker gives his date of birth as 31 May 1821.

Interestingly, in the 1850 census, Olive Judy & her brother Benjamin are both listed as age 27 - or born in 1823. I never have found Benjamin since that census - I doubt that they were twins but it's possible. In 1860, Judith is age 37, born 1823. In 1870 Olive is age 45, born 1825. In 1880, Olive, age 56, born 1824. The 1900 census states she was born May, 1824. This seems most likely.

Olive Judith "Judy" PERKINS and John WILSON were married on 5 October 1858 in Lawrence County, Missouri.110 John WILSON73, son of James WILSON and Nancy [WILSON], was born on 13 October 1813 in Tennessee.109,111 He died on 26 February 1894 at the age of 80 in Lawrence County, Missouri.109

1850. I believe John was then living in Boone Township, Greene Co MO. p.325b, Household 1216 is John Wilson, age 37, Waggon Maker worth $200, b. Tn.
In Household 1215 is James Wilson age 66, Farmer b. TN. Nancy age 62, b. TN, Thomas L. H., age 34, also a Waggon Maker, b. TN, Rachael age 72, b. TN, Almedia age 18, Mahaley age 15 and William B. age 11. Only William was born in MO.

1860 Lawrence Co MO; Buck Praire Twp, Household 839. John Wilson, merchant, age 47, b. TN. Judith age 37 b. KY, Nancy 10 mo, born in MO.

1870 Marionville, Lawrence Co MO; household 15. John Wilson age 56, Retired Merchant, b. TN. Olive J. age 45 b. KY. Nancy age 10, Jackson L. and Sterlin P. both age 8.

John's occupation in 1880 was listed as Retired Merchant. Both his parents born in TN.
John Wilson, age age 67. Olive, age 56, born Kentucky, parents born in Virginia. Nannie age 20, Lee & Price age 18, are still at home.

Olive Judith "Judy" PERKINS and John WILSON had the following children:

+114

i.

Nancy "Nannie" WILSON.

ii.

Jackson Lee WILSON112 was born on 27 November 1861 in Lawrence County, Missouri.109,110,111 He died on 29 February 1924 at the age of 62 in Marionville, Lawrence County, Missouri.109

In 1880, the twins and their older sister were still living at home. The boys occupation was Clerk, Dry Goods.

In 1900, they still lived with their mother.

1910 Census. Marionville, Ward 1, Lawrence Co MO
Living alone: Lee Wilson, age 48, b. MO, father b. TN, mother b. KY; has his own income.

1920 Census. Buck Prairie Twp, Lawrence Co MO, Hh 102
Living alone: J. Lee Wilson, age 58, b. MO, father b. TN, mother b. KY, Loan agent

Death Certificate states J. Lee Wilson died Marionville, on 29 Feb 1924. He died in the night, probably from a heart attack. He told his partner with whom he worked the day before he died that he never felt better in his life. He was a Capitalist and loaned money to farmers to buy or improve their land. Father John Wilson, born Knoxville, TN. Mother was Olive J. Perkins, b. Kentucky. The informant was S. P. Wilson, a twin brother from Eureka Springs, AR. Date of birth was not given but he was at death, 62 years, 3 months and 2 days - if that is correct the twins were born on 27 Nov 1861.

iii.

Sterling Price WILSON was born on 27 November 1861 in Lawrence County, Missouri.109,110,111 He died in 1933 at the age of 72.109

Helen Small believed neither of the twins ever married. They are both listed with their mother in the 1900 census. In 1910 and 1920, Jackson Lee appeared alone in Lawrence Co. Apparently more than one Sterling P. Wilson, born in Missouri in 1862 existed. In fact I have found 4 born either 1861 or 1862, and another Sterling P. Wilson, b. 1863 in Louisiana.

1900, Buck Prairie, Lawrence Co MO, p.94A, Olive J. Wilson was head of household. Age 76, born May 1824. She had three children, three living. J. Lee and S. Price, aged 38, were born Nov of 1861, both are still single. Their occupation is given as "Capitalist".

Charles R., son, 5, b. Kansas
Sterling P. Wilson, Roomer, 68, Single man - never married, b. MO, father b. TN, mother b. KY, Solicitor, Farm Loans. [NOTE: this is where his parents were born!]

Interesting, living in Carroll Co AR in 1902, was Roy Russell - son of the Amelia Russell, Sterling apparently married late in life.

Sterling apparently died in Highwood, Lake Co, Illinois as noted in the Illinois Deaths & Stillbirths, 1916-1947; FamilySearch.org.
He died 7 Jun 1933 and was buried on the 8th of June in Marionville, Lawrence Co, MO. His was born 27 Nov 1861, Marionville, MO and was age 71. A spouse, Amelia Russell, is stated - he would have had to marry her since 1930.

There is also in the same place, a death record for Amelia J. Russell Wilson, age 83y 4m 10, (born abt 1863), died 19 Jun 1946. Father: Pleasant James Russell; mother: Mary Ellen Mayfiled. Spouse: Sterling Price.

Note that this Sterling, still single in 1900, cannot possibly be the man below, married by 1887.

There is this census record in Blackwater, Cooper, MO in 1910 and 1920 for a different Sterling P. Wilson with wife Louise Grotzinger. He died in 1951 still in Blackwater.
1910. Sterling P. Price was 48 (b. 1862) and had been married once for 23 years (m.1887). He lists his birth in MO - his father's in PA; his mother's in KY. He was a farmer. Louise was 48 and they had had 4 children - 3 were living.. She was born in MO - her father in France, her mother in Germany. Listed are John W., 19 and Rosie M., 18.
1920 - Sterling was 58, b. MO, parents b. MO. Farmer. Louise, 57, b. MO, father in France, mother in Germany

This is still a different Sterling P. Wilson, b. in MO, 1861, died in Boise, Idaho in 1941 - his wife was Melvina Potter. They married 1884 in Idaho and Jesse was their second child.
