Halifax Deed Book 9, p.137. 13 Feb 1765. Jethro Sumner and wife Mary sell to Blake Baker land devised by Col. Barnaby McKinnie to his dau Christian, mother of the said Mary in fee tail. Mentions agreement made by Blake Baker and Mary before she was married to Sumner.

13 Feb 1765 Jethro Sumner of Bute County and Mary his wife to Blake Baker of Halifax Co. For 450#'s sell those two messuages and tracts of land in Halifax containing 420 in the whole. 320 acres being the Walnut Fort plantation divided by the last Will & Testament of Col. Barnaby McKinnie deceased, to his daughter Christian, mother of the said Mary in fee tail which was Docked by an act of Assembly and by fee simple vested in Blake Baker and the said Mary while she was sole. The other 100 acres being part of the Tract whereon William Hurst formerly lived which he sold to William Little, the upper side of the Walnut Fort planation and which Hurst reserved out of the tract he sold and whereon William Richmond lived and died seized of.
