13. Ann MCKINNIE1 was born (date unknown).

Ann MCKINNIE and William MURPHEY III were married.1 William MURPHEY III1,29, son of William MURFREY and [MURFREY], died before May 1737 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.1

Will signed 28 Jan 1736; proved May Court 1737. Names daughters Mary, Martha and Esther. Kinsman William Hurst [brother-in-law, husband of Christian McKinnie], Joseph Brandshaw. Wife Ann to be executor with Jno. Edwards and Isaac Ricks.

There is some doubt that "Ann" is Ann McKinnie, daughter of Col. Barnaby McKinnie. She could not be a daughter of the second wife Mary Exum, but could easily be one of the older children from his earlier marriage.

The following deeds prove only some type of possible relationship to the McKinnie family. One of the daughters of Col. Barnaby, Christian, was married to William Hurst. Edgecombe Co Deed Book 1, p. 323. 16 Aug 1738. William Hurst to John Stafford 100 acres bequeathed by William Murphey late of Edge. to William Hurst which land was surveyed for William Opie. It is part of a patent to William Murphrey dated 1 Mar 1721.

A husband for daughter Mary is revealed in Edgecombe Deed Book 5, p.147. 16 Feb 1742. John Watson and Mary his wife release all right and title in the estate of William Murphey late of Edgecome, dec'd, to William Taylor. Mary Watson being one of the daughters and legatees of sd William Murphey.

The land William Murphrey bequeathed to Joseph Bradshaw is noted in Edgecome Deed Book 6, p.124. 20 Oct 1756. Matthew Charles & Mary of Southampton Co VA to James Jones. 200 acres adj Murphey's former line and the Beech swamp by patent to William Murphey 6 Nov 1730 and by Murphey bequeathed to Joseph Bradshaw and now the property of Mary Charles as heir to sd Bradshaw.
