Melinda Ann HARDIN and William H CRAWFORD were married on 15 February 1798 in Hardin County, Kentucky.3,95 William H CRAWFORD116, son of Samuel CRAWFORD and Jenet MASON, was born on 8 December 1770 in Botetourt County, Virginia.35 He died on 12 July 1845 at the age of 74 in Schuyler County, Illinois.35

Birthdate is calculated from his date of death as 12 Jul 1845. Said to be aged 74 years, 7 months, 4 days. I find these to be often incorrect. This date in 1770 would suggest he was born before his parents married, but of course the marriage date could be the one that's in error.

Jane CRAWFORD was born in 1805 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. She died in 1839 at the age of 34 in Hardinsburg, Breckinridge County, Kentucky.

The only proof for Jane as a daughter of William Crawford and Melinda Hardin is apparently an old family letter. A Memorial on FindAGrave, #146482343 states the following:
Jane Crawford Wale(s) was born about 1805 near Hardin’s Fort and Hardinsburg Breckinridge County Kentucky. she died about 1839 in or near Hardinsburg Kentucky. Jane Crawford was the wife of William Buford Wale(s), and the daughter of William and Melinda Hardin Crawford of Hardinsburg Kentucky, according to old letters in the Filson club collection in downtown Louisville. Jane Crawford and her husband William Buford Wale(s) are buried south of Cloverport, in the Crawford family Cemetary, which was started by Jane's paternal grandparents Samuel and Jane Mason Crawford.

There is no known grave marker for either Jane or William Buford Wale:
William Buford Wale(s) was born in 1803 on his parents newly acquired plantation which was called 'Prince-of-Wales,' Breckinridge County, Kentucky. His parents were James Martin Wale and Nancy Buford. The family relocated from Virginia to Breckinridge County Kentucky in 1803. William married Jane Crawford, the daughter of William and Melinda Hardin Crawford About 1826. William Wale died in 1855, Hardinsburg, and was buried beside his first wife, Jane Crawford Wale, in the Crawford family cemetery at Tar fork in Breckenridge County, according to old family letters at the Filson Historical Society near Downtown Louisville. His second wife was Lucinda Basham.
