CARLSBAD - Funeral services for Helen Edith Coble, 83, of East Plum Lane, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home chapel with Anthony Bryant of Fox and Lake Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Monte Vista Cemetery, Alamogordo, with her brother, Donald Wilkerson of a Church of Christ in Arizona officiating.
She died Wednesday, april 14, 1999, at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.
Denton-Funchess Funeral Home is in charge of arrangments.
Helen Edith Coble wa born Jan. 15, 1916 in Childress, Texas, to Ernest M. & Martha Jane Elkins Wilkerson. She married Roy Dean Coble on aug. 12, 1937, in Carlsbad. He preceded her in death on Jul 29, 1997.
She was a member of Fox and Lake church of Christ. She enjoyed telling stories and a good argument with her son-in-law. She also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, wild birds, and her family. she was an avid reader of arts, music and education. she was a seamstress for her family and never used a pattern. A pattern would be selected from a catalog and she would make it. She enjoyed getting in the car and exploring back roads.
Survivors include a son Harry Chesser, of Seattle, Wash.; four daughters, Helen Jane Robinson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Yvonne Burrier and Edith Inman both of Artesia and Deanna Jarman of Othello, Wash.; five brothers, Burl Wilkerson of Houston, Texas, Jack Wilkerson of Roswell, Ronald Wilkerson of Albuquerque, Donald Wilkerson of Duncan, Arizl, and Bobby Wilkerson of Honduras; two sisters, Martha Belle Lemons and Ernell Herring both of Roswell; one brother-in-law, Clifford Coble of Las Cruces; one sister-in-law, Clara Wilkerson of Roswell; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be family members.
Friends may call today from 1-9 pm at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home chapel and Saturday beginning at 3 pm at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home in Alamorgordo.

Helen Edith WILKERSON and Roderick Norton CHESSER were married on 6 September 1933 in Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico. They were divorced before 1937. Roderick Norton CHESSER was born on 4 May 1912 in San Miguel County, New Mexico. He died on 21 June 1995 at the age of 83 in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico.
