297. Dorcas COMSTOCK127 was born on 30 November 1817 in Cloverport, Breckinridge County, Kentucky.98,160 She died on 24 January 1860 at the age of 42 in Hawesville, Hancock County, Kentucky.98

Dorcas was raised by her grandparents, Amos & Dorcas Williams. She lived with them until a few years before her marriage, then lived with her uncle, Henry Williams.

Dorcas COMSTOCK and George Washington MCADAMS were married on 7 August 1840 in Hawesville, Hancock County, Kentucky.102,125 George Washington MCADAMS161, son of John MCADAMS and Rebecca IRONS, was born on 25 December 1815 in New Amsterdam, Harrison County, Indiana.162 He died on 2 August 1889 at the age of 73.162

Married by Reverend Henry W. Hughes.

In 1832, George went to Portland KY (Louisville) and went to work for Eugene Perrot, one of the early French settlers at the Falls of the Ohio. While working on the river trade, he became familiar with Hawesville and soon moved there. His brother Samuel and also settled there. George dealt in real estate and buying tobacco and about the time of Civil War owned several large coal mines. The War, debts, tobacco market collapse, wiped out his fortune and he spent the last few years at the home of his son, Eugene P. McAdams.

She died of pulmonary edema due to exhaustion caused by confinement to bed from fracture of the thigh. She was the widow of Robert W. Taylor. Born Hawesville, KY, 22 Feb 1845. Parents listed as George W. McAdams, born Nelson Co, KY and Dorcas Comstock, b. Hancock Co, KY. Josephine N. Taylor of the address, was the informant. Buried Cave Hill Cemetery on July 10th.
