Rebecca Jane HIGGINBOTHAM and Willis HIGGINBOTHAM were married. Willis HIGGINBOTHAM76,77, son of Joseph HIGGINBOTHAM and Frances HIGGINBOTHAM, was born on 5 April 1792 in Elbert County, Georgia.40 He served in the military in 1812 at 10th & 20th Consolidated Regt, LA Militia in War of 1812. He died on 30 July 1861 at the age of 69 in Lafayette County, Mississippi.40

Moved with other Higginbothams families to East Feliciana Parish LA ca 1810. Willis, his brother Lindsey, and cousins, served in the 10th & 20th Consolidated Regt., Louisiana Militia, War of 1812. Journeyed back to Amherst Co VA to represent his family in the settlement of his grandmother's estate. Moved to Indian lands near Springdale, Mississippi near his brother Lindsey ca 1835. Lafayette Co was formed in 1836 from the Chicksaw Cession and he acquired several hundred acres of land.
