54. George Washington HIGGINBOTHAM was born on 20 December 1783 in Amherst County, Virginia.²⁷ He served in the military in 1814 at 90th Regt, 3rd Brig., 2nd Division, Amherst Co Militia, in War of 1812. He died on 30 April 1862 at the age of 78 in Amherst County, Virginia.²⁷

Johannah, George's second wife, was his first cousin once removed, a descendant of Aaron Higginbotham.

George Washington HIGGINBOTHAM and Elizabeth CASHWELL were married on 8 April 1810 in Amherst County, Virginia.²⁷ Elizabeth CASHWELL died on 2 July 1820 in Amherst County, Virginia.²⁷

Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry Cashwell of Amherst Co VA.
