27. Aaron HIGGINBOTHAM Jr. was born about 1752 in Amherst County, Virginia.¹⁴

Said to have been Ensign in the Amherst Militia in 1769 - he would have been very young, perhaps about 17.

1 May 1777. Aaron Higginbotham Sr. to Aaron Higginbotham, Jr. 390 acres on Threshers' Creek, Amherst, land the he bought of Neill Campbell. For good will and affection to his son Aaron, Jr. Amherst DB D, p.515

There was a Bible record from the family of Absalom Higginbotham, son of Aaron Jr. - once in the possession of Mrs. S. B. Higginbotham of Rockbridge Co VA. It has been transcribed in the William & Mary Quarterly, Vol. 27, Issue 4 [Apr 1919], p.294-296. The dates of the Aaron Jr.'s family have come from that transcription.

Aaron HIGGINBOTHAM Jr. and Nancy CROXTON were married on 4 December 1775 in Amherst County, Virginia.^7,21 Nancy CROXTON was born circa 1756. She died on 11 November 1823 at the age of 67.

Descendant of this line, Jim Barlett, has that she was the daughter of Samuel & Elizabeth Croxton.

122	ii.	Absalom HIGGINBOTHAM was born on 2 May 1781.⁵⁰ He died on 7 July 1866 at the age of 85.⁵⁰ Absalom's wife, Mary C. Sandidge, daughter of Benjamin Sandidge, was born 26 of Aug 1789. They were married the 6th of Nov 1806. Their children's birth transcribed from Bible record in the William & Mary Quarterly, Vol. 27, Issue 4 [Apr 1919], p.294-296. Betty Ann Higginbotham, born 5th day of October, 1807 Nancy Croxton Higginbotham was born the 4th day of December, 1809. James Higginbotham was born the 5th day of February, 1812 Rufus A. Higginbotham was born the 5th day of March, 1814 Benjamin G. Higginbotham was born the 21st of August, 1818 Absalom Higginbotham Jr was born the 3rd of July, 1821 Thomas Higginbotham was born the 1st of March, 1824 Aaron Higginbotham was born the 31st of December, 1826 Paul Higginbotham was born the 1st of November, 1831. The births of Absalom's siblings are listed. Marriages: Absalom Jr and Elizabeth Tucker, married the 14th day of December, 1843 James and Ann Eliza London married the 17th of December, 1835 Deaths: Betty Ann Hill, departed this life, 26th day of May, in the year of our Lord, 1831, she being the oldest daughter of Absalom and Mary Higginbotham. Thomas Higginbotham departed this life the 1st day of November, 1841, age 17 years, 8 months Paul Higginbotham died August 26, 1864. Nancy C. Royster died October 5th, 1865. Absalom Higginbotham, Sr., was born May 2, 1781 and died the 7th of July, 1866 Mary C. Higginbotham departed this life the 28th of May, 1871 [Absalom's wife] James Higginbotham depareted this life, September 11th, 1874 Rufus A. Higginbotham departed this life September 23, 1878 Elizabeth Higginbotham departed this life September 23, 1874 [probably wife of Absalom Jr.] There is a birth listed for Anderson Sandidge, 9 Aug 1793 - he was probably Mary Sandidge Higginbotham's brother. And there is a death date of 12 May 1859.

125	v.	Aaron HIGGINBOTHAM was born on 23 February 1789.⁵⁰ Aaron married Elizabeth Sandidge, daughter of Benjamin, 22 May 1817. I believe she was a sister to Aaron's brother Absalom.
