Fifth Generation

205. Isaac FRY was born on 25 January 1800 in Frederick County, Virginia.11 He died on 18 August 1874 at the age of 74 in Shelby County, Kentucky.11

Isaac was in Clay Co by 1825 - on a tax list, owning 160 acres. Isaac married Sarah "Sally" George, 1823, Shelby Co, KY. There is a court dispute in Clay Co over a horse that belonged to his brother Solomon, that Isaac had taken. A roan with nicked tale. Isaac Sr., their father and brother Jefferson stated to the sheriff that the horse was indeed Solomon's. Isaac was also involved in an altercation when he claimed six men and pulled him from his bed and beat him, but they were acquitted and he was charged with perjury. Isaac disappeared from the county. Sally, his wife, is on the 1830 Clay Co MO census with two young sons. She isn't found again.

Isaac then married Sarah Froman, the widow of Martin Fry, Isaac's first cousin, in Shelby Co KY in 1848. Apparently he had returned to Kentucky.

A Sarah Fry is on the 1850 Mortality Census as having died 8 Aug 1849, of typhoid fever in Shelby Co. Since Sarah (George) Fry was last in Clay Co, and Sarah (Froman) Fry was still living, this must not be either wife of Isaac. The regular census (which should also list those that died during the past year) lists a Sarah, age 64, with what is likely a son, Levi, age 33; a Sarah wife of Noah, age 35; a Sarah age 28 with probable father Elijah, age 71, a Sarah, age 11, in the household of her mother, Nancy, age 52 - as well as Isaac & Sarah (Froman) Fry. The Sarah who died was age 48, born say 1802, marked as widowed - she did die in August and had been ill 7 days. Her place of birth is unreadable, but may be dittoed for Kentucky.

1850 Census. Shelby Co KY
Isaac Fry, 58. Sarah, 33
William, 7 and Benjamin, age 1.

The 1860 Shelby Co KY census implies that Isaac and his second wife had five sons, Benjamin 10, Francis M. 8, Thomas J, 6, Robert 4, and James 3. His oldest son William, age 17, was also in the household - his birthplace said to be Kentucky, but it was surely Missouri.

Isaac died in 1874 and is buried near Sarah Froman and her first husband, Martin Fry in rural Shelby Co.

Isaac FRY and Sally GEORGE were married on 7 April 1823 in Shelby County, Kentucky.11,95 Sally GEORGE was born about 1807.11 She died before 1848 at the age of 41.

Sally is living with her two young sons, Clay Co, MO in 1830 - she isn't found after that. Isaac remarried in 1848.
