Third Generation
28. Jacob FRYE2,31,36 was born in 1726 in Perkiomen, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.8 He died on 25 February 1808 at the age of 82 in Frederick or Shenandoah County, Virginia.20,37 Jacob received a Fairfax patent for land just downstream from his father's. The survey was done 5 Nov 1750 and Jacob's land is mentioned in a deed of gift from his father Benjamin to his brother Joseph in 1751. The patent was not issued until 23 Mar 1762. The survey for 271 acres on 5 Nov 1750 stated the land of Jacob was adjoining his father Benjamin Fry [on the west] and Paul Froman [on the east] on Cedar Creek a branch of the North River of Shannandoa. William Russell and Henry Fry were chain carriers. John Baylis, surveyor. Frey Family Association Journal, Spring 2011, p.29 George Washington, age 16, took the job of surveying the holdings of Thomas Lord Fairfax in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia - he received 500 acres in Frederick County as payment. 200 acres of this tract was leased to Jacob Frey, Mary his wife, and Jacob their son, for the rent of 6 £ per year, for life. The lease is dated 23 Mar 1769, recorded in Frederick Co VA DB 13, p.15. 14 Jan 1768 Frederick County. Warrant granted by the Land Office of the Province to Jacob Fry - 50 acres, called "Fry's Addition". Bounds include a branch of the Tuscorara that falls into Monococy. The sketch shows a roughly rectangular tract with a very long dogleg which one can imagine gave him some sort of access to a road or stream, or the 50 acres adjoined along the side of another tract. The original survey dated 19 May 1749. Will 25 Feb 1805, distributed estate to children including grandchildren John and Leah Frye, children of dec'd son John.
