9. Benjamin Franklin DENNIS³ was born on 22 July 1833 in Jackson County, Tennessee.^1,8,17 He died on 3 April 1916 at the age of 82.⁸

Benjamin's wife was likely Florentine Putty, b. 1832/1834 in TN.
Benjamin was not named as living with his mother in her divorce petition in 1857 so probably he was already married.

1860 Census. Benjamin age 26, Floretta age 28. Sarah 7, John 4, and Letha age 1.
Two houses from a Matthew Dennis who is unidentified. Matthew's age was given as 22 [or born 1838] Matthew's wife was Flora - said to be Flora Thaxton, sister to Rhoda Thaxton who had married Benjamin's older brother Richard and she was age 26. There was a daughter age 6 - Matthew would have been only 14 - and boys Calvin and Blake both age 2.

1870 Census. B. F. Dennis, age 37. "Teriba" age 38. Sarah now 17, John 14, Litha 12 and William age 7. Sarah Putty, age 83, b. North Carolina, was living with them - no doubt Florentine's mother.

Benjamin Franklin DENNIS and Florentine PUTTY were married about 1852. Florentine PUTTY^2,18 was born in 1832 in Tennessee.^2,17

Florentine's parents were John & Sarah Putty. She was still at home in the 1850 Census, age 18. Her father born in NC; mother born in VA. The Putty's were enumerated in 1850 next door to Andrew Dennis.

Son William's death certificate gave her name as "Tiny Belle Putty".

Benjamin Franklin DENNIS and Florentine PUTTY had the following children:

72	ii.	John H. DENNIS was born in 1856 in Jackson County, Tennessee.³ Probably this John 1880 Census, Dist 1, Jackson Co TN Jno. H. Dennis, age 23. Marthy A. wife, age 21. Walter J. 1, son. Death Certificate #46213, State of Tennessee, Jackson Co Walter Dennis died 26 Feb 1910. Age 30. Listed as married, died of consumption.
73	iii.	Aletha E. DENNIS was born in 1859 in Jackson County, Tennessee.³ Married (1) Wilson Young, 3 Aug 1875, Jackson Co, TN One son has a Texas Death Certificate, #12141. Marlin B. Young of 2614 Travis, Ft. Worth, Tarrant, TX, died on 22 Feb 1958, age 70, of pneumonia. he was born 12 Feb 1888 in Tennessee and was married. He had lived in Ft Worth for about 15 years. His occupation had been liquor salesman. Jack H. Young was the informant. Parents were C. W. Young and Aletha E. Dennis. He was buried Blue Bonnet Hills Cemetery, Tarrant Co, on Feb 24th. Aletha E. Young married Henry F. Pelphrey on 5 Mar 1919, in Los Angeles, California. He was age 57 and his parents were D. A. Pelphrey & Mary Wheeler. The bride gave her age as 55 (she was more likely 60) and her parents were B. F. Dennis and Flora Putty. This was obviously not her first marriage.

76	vi.	George H. DENNIS was born on 5 February 1874 in Tennessee.¹⁷ He died on 5 February 1921 at the age of 47 in Hendersonville, Sumner County, Tennessee. Tennessee Death Record #245 Geo H. Dennis died 8 April 1921 near Hendersonville, Sumner Co TN, of peritonitis following appendectomy. He was 47, born 5 Feb 1874 in Tennessee. He was married, a farmer. His father was B. F. Dennis; his mother Florentine Putty - both born in Tennessee. F. H. Dennis of Hendersonville was the informant. He was buried on April 9th at Hendersonville.
