8. Richard Henry DENNIS^3,4,12 was born in 1831 in Tennessee.^1,4 He died in 1904 at the age of 73 in Jackson County, Tennessee.

Richard H. Dennis, as next friend, presented the petition for his mother's desired divorce. She states that all the other children living at home are minor children: LeRoy, Miles, Gilbert, Elizabeth, Martha Jane, Sally Almira, & Merinda

Age given as 26 in 1857 "Answer" by Miles Dennis' lawyer. Richard was also named as eldest.

1860. Richard age 28 and Rhoda age 17. They are marked as having married within the year.

Richard Henry DENNIS and Rhoda Ann THAXTON were married about 1859 in Jackson County, Tennessee.¹³ Rhoda Ann THAXTON¹⁴, daughter of James THAXTON and Cynthia BASSHAM, was born on 11 April 1842 in Tennessee.¹³ She died on 11 June 1923 at the age of 81 in Adairville, Logan County, Kentucky.¹³

Richard Jr's Death Certificate gave Rhoda's name as Rhoda Claxton.

61	i.	James M. DENNIS¹³ was born in 1861.^12,13 He died before 1939 at the age of 78.¹³ Lived in Franklin, Simpson Co, KY. Married Eliza Jones 29 Dec 1878. Married 2nd Mollie Allen.
62	ii.	Samantha "Belle" DENNIS^12,13 was born on 28 May 1863.¹³ She died on 11 January 1939 at the age of 75 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.¹³ Married 26 Dec 1878 to John O. Hopkins. Lived in Nashville TN. Samantha was listed as Belle age 17 in 1880. Samantha Dennis Hopkins died 11 Jan 1939 in Nashville, Davidson Co, TN. She was widowed, age 75; born 28 May 1863. Her spouse listed as John O. Hopkins. Her father was Richard Dennis, her mother Rodey Thaxton. Tennessee Death Records, FamilySearch.org.
63	iii.	Bartlett W. "Barty" DENNIS¹³ was born in 1865.^12,13 The 1870 census has a male age 4 - names seems to be Mandy/Marty W. In 1880 there is a 15 year old son Bartlett/Martlett. Seems to be the same person.
64	iv.	Almira Emaline DENNIS¹³ was born in 1867.^12,13 She died on 28 March 1955 at the age of 88 in Gainesboro, Jackson County, Tennessee. A Mrs. M. F. "Mollie" Spurlock was listed as a surviving sibling on the death notices for both Samantha and Frank. This is the only female without a spouse, unless there was another daughter not listed here. Marriage: Almira Dennis to M. F. Spurlock 9 Jan 1884, Jackson Co TN. Tennesse Death Records, FamilySearch.org Almira Spurlock died 28 Mar 1955, Gainsboro, Jackson Co, TN, age 87. Her parents were Richard Dennis and Rhoda Thaxton.

66	vi.	William Wesley DENNIS^13,15 was born on 10 June 1872.^12,13 He died on 27 May 1934 at the age of 61 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.¹³ Buried with his wife at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Dallas TX. Married Neoma Elizabeth Cook. Eleven children. This is the family of Peggy Sham. In Jackson Co TN in 1900 with wife and children: Mary 6, Flora 5, Jas. T 4, Minnie Lee 2. They had been married 7 years.
67	vii.	Frank M. DENNIS was born about 1873.¹³ He died on 10 December 1929 at the age of 56 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.¹³ Married Mary Goolsby. There is a marriage on FamilySearch for Frank M. Dennis to Settie West, 12 Sep 1893 - he is with her in 1900 and 1910. Not listed in 1880 census, but said to have died at age 49 in 1929 - but in 1900 he was already age 28, or born about 1872. In 1910, he gave his age as 36. Tennessee Death Certificate #28763 Frank M. Dennis , 814 Cheatham St., Nashville, Davidson Co, TN, died of apoplexy (stroke) on 10 Dec 1929. He was born on July 12 (no year) in TN, age 49. Married. Farmer. Father was Richard H. Dennis, Mother, Rhoda Thaxton, both born in TN. Mrs. S. S. Meadows of Greenbrier, TN was the informant. Buried on Dec 12th, Spring Hill Cemetery.

69	ix.	Fannie DENNIS¹³ died on 13 September 1863 in Gainesboro, Jackson County, Tennessee. She was born on 1 March 1879.^12,13 Fannie married S. S. "Sid" Meadows and lived in Greenbrier, TN. Tennessee Death Certificate 25883 Fannie Dennis Meadows died 13 Sep 1963 at the Jackson Co Hospital in Gainesboro, Jackson Co, TN. She had been there a week before dying of pneumonia. Her husband was Sid Meadows. She was born 1 Mar 1879 in Tennessee. Her father was Richard Henry Dennis; her mother Rhoda Ann Thaxton. Miss Hallie Meadows was the informant. Buried Brown Cemetery in Gainesboro, on Sep 14th.
70	x.	Mary J. DENNIS^12,16 was born on 8 June 1881.¹⁶ She died on 27 July 1955 at the age of 74.¹⁶ Husband was James B. Allen. Found in Logan Co KY: Greenwood Cemetery, Adairville; Row 7, Section C: Allen, J. B. 10 Dec 1877 - 2 Feb 1924 There was a child listed as Mary in the 1880 census. Strangely enough she was marked as a "son". The name and sex is quite plain. She/he was 6 years old so born in 1874. 8 Jun 1881 was quoted as her birth from a descendant of this Dennis line - it's 1880 on her death certificate. Tennessee Death Certificate #55-14581 Mary Jane Allen died 27 Jul 1955 at Nashville General Hospital, Nashville, Davidson Co, TN, where she had been for five days. Her residence was Route 4 (Woodbine), Nashville. She died of cerebral thrombosis and was widowed. Mary was 75, born 8 Jun 1880. Her parents were Richard Dennis and Rhoda Thaxton. Mrs. Frank Hartman of Route 4, was the informant. She was taken to Adairville, KY on 29 Jul 1955 for burial. Buried in Logan Co KY, but she may have moved back to Nashville after the death of her husband. Rhoda, her mother, was said to be living with this daughter at the time of her death and said to be also buried in Adairville, but not listed in cemetery book.
