11. William CLOPTON8,22 was born about 1685.10 He died before 1733 at the age of 48.2

The first notation of Wm Clopton, Junr in the St. Peters Parish Vestry records is in November of 1710 when he is paid for his "acct". He received small sums from the Parish several times (the last in September of 1726), but no itemization is given for the expenses.

William had died before his cousin William Hammond of Stepney Parish, Middlesex, Great Britain left his property to his uncle William Clopton and his children surviving him. There is a deed from Robert & Walter Clopton and the husbands of Anne & Elizabeth.

CELEBRATING A COLONIAL WEDDING
An Interesting bit of Virginia - Family History - Entertainment and Guests.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Charles M. Wallace celebrated the 174th anniversary of the marriage of her great great-grandfather and grandmother, Captain William Clopton, of the British Army, and Miss Joyce Wilkinson, a highly educated and accomplished beauty, belle, and heiress. Captain Clopton was the eldest son of the William Clopton, the heir to the estates and titles of the Warwickshire Cloptons, who had crossed the ocean to see the virgina world, and becoming enamored of it, has after returning for his wife, Miss Anne booth, daughter of Sir Thomas booth of Suffolk, determined to reside here. Miss Joyce Wilkinson was the daughter of Captain George Wilkinson and Miss Sarah Lyddall, the daughter of Lt-Col George Lyddall, who owned large estates in bothe the Old and New World.
Capt Clopton and Miss Wilkinson were married July 27, 1718, and among the many social events attending the wedding in various parts of the colony were an assemble at the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg, and a ball at the Raleigh Tavern, given by Capt Clopton and brother officers.
There are but few descendants from this union, (list follows)...
Mrs. Wallace was named for this remote ancestress and has a beautiful likeness of her great-great-grandmother - an old-fashioned silhouette in balck and white in a fine state of preservation.
