Also living in the household was Anthony Perkins, age 54, born Virginia [no doubt his brother], and Allen Gray age 24, overseer, born in Georgia.
The 1850 census, Madison Co, does indeed show a Peter Brown, age 37, b. VA, whose wife was Agnes and five children in the household, Hh 215. Peter was a wagon maker. In 1840, I. H. Perkins was listed as age 20-30. There was no one else in his household. He did have a large number of slaves for such a young man - 93 all together. I checked the slave census of 1850, to see what might have happened to all the slaves of I. H. Perkins. Peter Brown was listed with 12 slaves.
