2. WALTER CLOPTON was christened on 30 June 1585 in Groton, Suffolk, England. He died in 1622 in Coggeshall, Essex, England.

Walter Clopton, Gent., of Coggeshall, Essex (William13, Richard12, William11, John10, William9, Thomas8, Walter7, William6, Walter5, William4, Walter3, William2, Guillaume1 Peche, Lord Of Cloptunna and Dalham) was born Abt. June 1585 in Castlings Manor and baptized June 30, 1585 at St. Bartholomew's Church, Groton, County Suffolk, and died Aft. December 24, 1622 in Coggeshall, County Essex, possibly, about 6 miles southwest of Colchester, and probably buried at St. Nicholas, Little Coggeshall.

He married Margaret Maidstone, of Great Horkesley, Essex April 21, 1612 in Boxted, County Essex, England about 2 miles northeast of Great Horkesley, daughter of Robert Maidstone and Elizabeth Chambers. She was born Abt. January 11, 1588/89 in Great Horkesley, County Essex, probably, about 4 miles northwest of Colchester, Essex, and about 2 miles south of Boxted, and probably baptized at St. Peter's Church, Boxted.

WALTER CLOPTON and MARGARET MAIDSTONE were married on 21 April 1612 in Boxted, Essex, England. MARGARET MAIDSTONE was born in January 1588/9 in Great Horkesley, Essex, England. She died in 1666 at the age of 78.

Margaret was the daughter of Robert Maydstone and Elizabeth Chambers of Great Horkesley, Essex. It is more likely that she was the daughter of their son, also a Robert Maidstone. Robert & Elizabeth married 11 Apr 1560, Stoke by Nayland, Suffolk, England.

She married a second time to Robert Crane of Coggeshall, Essex, grocer.
