The marriage record to Mary Ann Mims, 25 Feb 1841 in Caswell Co, gives his name as Edward Watlington, Junr - I believe his uncle Edward was still living. This is not how we use the term "Jr" today.

Edward WATLINGTON and Jane BROOKS were married on 15 April 1820 in Caswell County, North Carolina.²⁶ Jane BROOKS⁶², daughter of CHARLES B. BROOKS and SARAH "SALLY" WILLIAMS, died before 1841.

Edward WATLINGTON and Mary Ann MIMS were married on 25 February 1841 in Caswell County, North Carolina. Mary Ann MIMS, daughter of John Wright MIMS and Wilmouth JONES, was born circa 1807 in Caswell County, North Carolina.

Mary Ann was not mentioned in the will of her father, but several daughters are indicated by earlier censuses and the will does include the statement "all my children".

Edward WATLINGTON and Mary Ann MIMS had the following children:
