Thank you for visiting the Kansas History and Heritage Project. This is a new genealogical and historical website, dedicated to Kansas and its 105 counties. 105 counties? Yes, at this time we only have a few online counties with data, but there will soon be something for every county in Kansas, at least in the County Archives section of this website. I have been hosting genealogical websites for over ten years, and have been concentrating on my counties of interest in northeast Kansas. However, there are many counties in the state that do not have online data in substantial amounts. Those are the counties for which I especially wish to add genealogical information. On the other hand, there are some reallygreat sites for Kansas genealogy, and they are appreciated. They are hosted by dedicated, hard-working volunteers who love their counties and get a lot of meaningful data on their sites. Although genealogical information is the main focus of this website, I also plan on adding historical information. I love history, especially military history, and more especially, Civil War history! I'll try not to get carried away, and I hope to make this project 90% genealogy and 10% historical information. It will be hard though--Kansas is rich in so many historical areas--pioneers, Native Americans, cowboys, military, politics, industry, medicine, literature and the arts! Please let me know if you have any suggestions concerning this website. I hope that you will find it easy to use and that it will be a research tool you will want to come back to time and time again.
